Die Dürreperiode zwischen 2018 und 2020 ist laut einem Forschungsteam des Helmholtz-Zentrums für Umweltforschung (UFZ) „historisch“. Seit Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts hat sich keine Dürre so großflächig über Europa ausgebreitet. Auch der Temperaturanstieg war enorm.
