UNHCR is aware of recent public statements suggesting that refugees wishing to apply for asylum in the United Kingdom should do so via the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ respective offices in their home region. UNHCR wishes to clarify that there is no mechanism through which refugees can approach UNHCR with the intention of seeking asylum in the U.K. There is no asylum visa or ‘queue’ for the United Kingdom.
Please take my love & solidarity along if you can get to London for this.
It's timed for when MPs will debate the new 'Refugee Ban Bill'.
(I know protests alone aren't anywhere enough but sometimes taking to the streets feels necessary.)

My son & friend are speaking to teachers today about a 6th form college assembly which they felt used #remembrance to glorify war (& seemingly Empire).
They're taking in poems like Siegfried Sassoon's 'Suicide in the Trenches' & Wilfred Owen's 'Dulce et Decorum est' & some peace education resources.
My son particularly hopes to challenge the connection his college (located in a northern English town with high levels of deprivation) made between remembrance & army recruitment.
Had Guterres' highway to climate hell earworm quote from #Cop27 in my head this morning.
Glad of a walk but even the signs felt relevant.
For anyone in need of nurturing some active hope, there's some good resources here:
