Stop being so “happy to share”! There is a better way to announce your research on LinkedIn. If I have to see one more “Happy to share our new paper!” post, I'm going to cry. 😭

It’s not that your paper isn’t interesting (it is! your publication is the best!). It’s just that the way you’re sharing it on LinkedIn is horrible.

I've channeled my frustration about this in a new blog, that gives you practical tips to share better posts on LinkedIn.

The two things you need to get to know your audience

If we have to see one more "Happy to share our new paper!" post, we're going to cry. It's depressing: the endless stream of identical LinkedIn posts with confetti backgrounds, a PubMed link, and not a single clue what the research is about. Here's how to fix that post and actually get people to engage with your work.

I'm writing a new blog to relieve my latest frustration, and just created the image below. Guess what I'm mad about? 😅

I've started my summer work period! A time where I slow down to work on new ideas and workshops, learn new skills, write, develop, bike, swim, and renovate stuff around the house. 💪

But before I get back to tiling our garage, I look back on the first half of 2025:

I gave 24 workshops

Designed 6 websites,

7 figures for subsidy proposals

4 presentations

1 health questionnaire

2 animated videos

1 campaign

3 infographics

And I started writing on our new book Eet als een Expert 2.0

I was asked to help do the marketing of a weigh-loss pill someone developed. Guess what my answer was?

Looking for scientific illustrations? I found a goldmine! This week, I discovered a massive collection of biomedical science illustrations: from anatomy, to neuroscience, and animals to microbiology, and more. 🤯

They’re free under CC by 4.0 and come as editable images in PowerPoint.

These will feature in the exhaustive documentation I’m building for researchers—helping them find high-quality visual resources (Yes, this is my idea of a “break” 😅).

I just submitted an icon I made of the naked mole rat to PhyloPic, a database of free SVG silhouette images of animals, plants, and other life forms.

I'm working on a huge design resource for researchers to create better visuals, and I figured why not contribute some of my own work?

I'm taking my bi-annual leave to reflect, think, and create! In 2024 I created 11 websites, 6 infographics, 1 report, 7 presentations, 4 animated videos, and 5 academic posters 😅. I did the concept & strategy, texts, design, and technical development.

On top of that I gave 49 science communication workshops & lectures.

Don’t ask me how I did this in 365 days, it’s a mystery to me as well. 🤯

Below a selection of my favorite projects this year. And as you can see: I do not make boring stuff 😉
