Some people believe there's no purpose to "liking" something on Mastodon since it doesn't affect any algorithm.
Not the case.
It does something incredibly valuable: it acknowledges people.
Which is incredibly powerful, and is all the more important *because* it's not connected to gaming any algorithm.
By liking something on Mastodon, you are doing it honestly -- without any agenda at play other than that you like it.
So go ahead. Click that like button for its own sake.
A quick reminder that law enforcement *responds* to crime, but a living wage, food and water security, accessible healthcare, and public education *prevent* crime.
If you want safer communities, invest in people, not punishments.

One of those is “Hive Social”, which reached more than a million users in the last weeks. Of course, we were interested and took a look at Hive from a security standpoint. We found a number of critical vulnerabilities, which we confidentially reported to the company. After multiple attempts to contact the company we finally reached them by phone and they acknowledged the report. After multiple days and multiple reminders by us, they claimed to fix them within the next two days. However after those two days, multiple vulnerabilities we reported were not fixed and still existed at the time of writing. ⚠️ We strongly advise against using Hive in any form in the current state.
