While I was very busy last week, I have now reached chapter 49 in my translation efforts. Here, two supporting characters who I haven't introduced to the public yet enter the spotlight: the nerd Andrew (ant) and the gossip Jessy (pangolin). Maybe I can catch up on that in the next few days...

The water element in RPG's is mostly known for healing/cleansing allies, slowing enemies down and rather low damage. I wonder how players would react if the protagonist of another RPG is actually tied to the water element and kicks some serious ass.

The defensive qualities of the water element are no exception in my novel either. However, while it is true that water can be used as a healing tool, it also pierces through enemy forces with brutal ferocity.

What 2026 will bring for my book:
- Proofreading continues. Currently at chapter 45/66.
- Professional editor hired. Work begins early March.
- Finish the cover of the book.
- Contact more (German) agencies.
- Contact international publisher.

What the year 2026 will bring -- Kilima's Journal

2026 will be an interesting year. There is a good chance that my book will be completed. I can't make any promises, but I do have s ...

Even though the cast of characters in my novel is very diverse, I still regret it a little. Because despite the many different types of animals I use, my main characters are all students from the Kilima boarding school. If I ever write a sequel, I would like to improve upon this.

Today is the anniversary of my book. Four years ago, I began my literary journey. And a year ago, I finished my manuscript. To celebrate this, here is a preview of my book cover (made by

Man, I have so many delightful ideas for a possible continuation of my first novel. But just like with a video game, you first have to finish the project you started (proofreading chapter 36 from 66 at the moment). For now, I hope to be able to announce some exciting news on November 24.

One of my biggest concerns while writing my novel was that the eponymous Kilima boarding school would lose its significance as the story and the journey progressed. Fortunately, I found interesting ways to keep the school relevant at all times.

One of my favorite things to do when writing stories about teenagers is to throw in scenes from their everyday lives. Instead of sitting around a long table and discussing things, they hang out together and play board games and talk about what's going on at their school while having a good time.
