Hello! I’ve had my license for 10+ years, but haven’t been as active as I’d like. Starting over like I’m a newbie 😎

I'm not the greatest at Italian, so if you're a native speaker and want to help me practice that would be great 🇮🇹

@hamradio As someone interested in digital voice modes, I have what might be a dumb question:

Personal hotspots and repeaters use things like MMDVM to run digital voice. What’s stopping us—assuming there aren’t projects already—from using something similar to create a digital modem that connects to an analog radio and makes it a multi-mode digital transceiver?

Does this exist? Been searching and haven’t found anything like it.

Edit: DV on VHF/UHF like DMR, etc.

@hamradio Recently discovered that mastodon.radio also has an XMPP service. Come join the party!

@hamradio Also giving Nymeria APRS a try. Looks super promising as well. If you have any other suggestions for more modern APRS clients, let me know!

Nymeria — Modern APRS Client

A modern, web-based APRS client built for individuals and teams. Real-time maps, multi-user sessions, RF integration, and emergency communications tools.

@hamradio So far, I’m running into a problem where it initially pairs, then unpairs immediately.

@hamradio Hello Fediverse! Been playing around with the #Retevis #Aliunce #HA2. Can anyone point me to resources or help with pairing it to a Linux device for packet/APRS?

I haven’t been able to find much for this device, since the TNC was only added recently to the firmware.

@hamradio This looks like a super cool project for a more modern APRS Client.

Has anyone played around with the beta or have any thoughts about it?
