Hello there, recently protmoted General Class from New Hampshire. Looking forward to learning about and enjoying amateur radio. 73 and thanks for visiting!
My profile picture is a photo of the tower at Mount Washington Observatory.
@N4JAW Thank you!
@n8dmt Thank you!

So today I built Salty Walt's (K4OGO) 17.5 antenna, lashed it to the side of the porch, hooked up my new G90, and promptly made a contact in Hungary.
First DX contact and first HF contact that was not during field day.

I am just getting started.

#hamradio

@kelvin0mql 💯 percent this.
If anything is "killing ham radio" it's the gate keeping of profoundly incurious old fudds. Exploring, tinkering and learning is half the point of this hobby.
Once the database updates I am now a General Class Operator. 👍
@ai6yr I respectfully disagree. I have several all programmed similarly with CHIRP. If I lose one or one breaks, it's a "New York Reload," just grab another one.
Meal Team Six types notwithstanding, there's a lot to like about something you can use without it being so precious that losing or breaking it will set you back a lot more money.
All the "big three's" HTs are grossly overpriced, except for the low-end Yaesu ones.
@scott Wow, mega 1983 vibes there, complete with scary Cyrillic-looking letters.
@alex Hello and welcome!
@croyle Oh yeah, when I saw the meter on the radio I did a fist pump lol.
LED floodlights replaced with a different brand, and my persistent RFI issue appears to be solved. 👍
