World Amateur Radio Day

The American Radio Relay League (ARRL) is the national association for amateur radio, connecting hams around the U.S. with news, information and resources.

I have ordered the wrong charger for my HT twice now. 🤦
Whenever I see a question about what is allowed and what isn't in Amateur radio, I can usually find the answer in the Technician question pool.

Hey U.S. people: thinking about getting your ham license? Free training, testing, and a radio.

"The Make Operating Radio Easier (MORE) Project is an initiative to reduce both gender and age imbalances in Amateur (Ham) Radio, through education and hands-on activities."

I actually made it to the club meeting last night. A lot of info about the repeater changes, but there's been a lot going on in the past couple months. Then we had a great talk about POTA. Thanks @Kb9vbr !

Saw this neat HAM skill tree by @sjpiper145 posted on Boing Boing. I'm going to hang one up in the shack. It would be a good resource for new hams wondering what to do once they get their ticket.

Replaced the button cell in my FT-470. I enjoy electronics work, but the original leads were spot welded to the battery - probably because getting solder to stick to a battery is a PITA. I was worried I was going to cook the battery the whole time.

Two and a half hours later, the radio keeps its memory through power cycle. My Elmer bought it in the 90s as his first HT. I wonder if I'll get 20 years out of the battery.
