Q: How did the mansplainer die?

A: He fell down a well, actually.

Everything you've said is true. I love books, too.

But to me, books are only the boxes we've poured stories into.

I prefer ebooks because I can keep a dozen in my pocket, can move a library in my hand.

I never have to turn on a light to see the page or squint at type that's too small.

I don't need to get up from my chair to get the next book or get in my car to buy one.

At my age, convenience trumps appearance every time.

Ingredients for Strictly Final:

Hamza - positivity
Molly - resilience
Fleur - excitement
Helen - energy

Result: One cheered-up country.

Thanks, BBC. Good job.

Love this from @heidistephens on the Guardian liveblog:
For the music, it has to be Molly – Beyonce, Prince and Whitney is very much my jam. For being a genuinely beautiful human, it has to be Hamza. For being the best dancer, it’s got to be Fleur. For the journey, it’s Helen. HOW DO YOU CHOOSE?

A glorious red sky, just before sunrise, out of the kitchen window this morning. One like this always reminds me of Theoden’s speech before the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.
“Fell deeds awake: fire and slaughter!
spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered,
a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!”

#diversity

The last 24 hours on #mastadon looking at everybody's bio pages. Meeting new people, with different backgrounds, jobs, interests. So different from my life.

Who may live close to me or thousands of miles. And yet we connect. I think that's a perfect analogy of why I have always been so happy to be #progressive .

That is what makes the world wonderful to me. Diversity. Learning about new people, cultures, ideas. It amazes me that people want to condemn that and demand assimilation.

In honor of #blackfriday l wanted to share the story of Sissieretta Jones. Never heard of her? Then please read on.
