Up till now I’ve been content for Dems to lay low, vote for Jeffries, and watch McCarthy twist in the wind. But if Kev comes through it’ll be because he sold the Speakership to a gang of far-right loons. Bad for the country.

I’d support Dems voting for a sane R (not Kev) with a few GOPers, esp if they can get concessions like no debt ceiling shenanigans. I know, I know. It’s not Dems’ responsibility to bail out the GOP. And there may not be 6 GOP votes for this idea. Worth exploring though.

Journalists and news orgs should not be kow-towing to Elon in Twitter Spaces or beginning for suspension lifts. They should leave birdchan altogether. They are the ones who create value for social media given how many people use these platforms to follow news.

Kind of surprised that Trump hasn’t worked a secret deal with DeSantis where he backs that guy in exchange for pardons for anything and everything. Seems like the strategy that both: maximizes the GOP chance of victory and minimizes Trump’s prison odds at the same time. Is it ego? Lack of trust between the two? A calculation that he’s more likely to win than DeSantis?

It’s remarkable how little energy Jack Dorsey can muster to defend himself against the accusation that the company he co-founded was a sex-trafficking vehicle. He seems uninterested in Twitter in general (while being totally immersed in African bitcoin mining), which is consistent with the reporting that he was an absentee CEO. It means that no one is supremely well positioned or motivated to defend pre-Musk Twitter from the wildest smears.
