Democracy enthusiast living in the Northwest Territories of Canada with my partner and two children. I like the idea of camping and I may be a better or worse guitar player than I think I am depending on the day or time of day.
The kid and I made this thing in our garden with some water and food colouring and snow and such. I’m pleased with how it turned out. #yellowknife #spring #snow #canada #northwestterritories #goodIceNotBadIce
@ikesau man, I’ve been considering watching this and am a huge Lois Theroux fan but I don’t think I can handle it. I feel safer just assuming that the manosphere phenomenon is absolutely as bad as I think it is. Maybe I can watch it once I’ve thought of something clever I can do about the problem. You have any ideas to get me started? Internet ban? Mandatory puberty blockers? Robot girlfriends? I’m working on strengthening civil society but it’s taking like, a really long time.
Community builders with Shift Bike Share YK built a portable parklet and organized a human #library outside the #Yellowknife #Snow Castle on Saturday. These initiatives sustain us and will sustain us.
@mikepmoffatt give them hot hell!
Will be on CBC Toronto's Here and Now in a few minutes, talking about the Mayor of Markham's decision to use strong mayor powers to block four units as-of-right.
2/2 It would be so depressing to see this investment disappear into a few huge contracts with multi-nationals who are cosy with the govt, instead of actually fostering some sustainable benefit and capacity building in the North. Hoping to fix decades of infrastructure debt caused by neglect and poor governance with a sudden massive injection of cash is like hoping to revive parched land with a flash flood. Am I being too glum?@miki_lou, @ffuite @NWTrav @reece
1/2 Not to be a real Debbie downer about #markcarney’s big announcement in #yellowknife today but a lot of people here are concerned that our economy is just not remotely ready to absorb a meaningful amount of this investment. How much of this work can be handled by existing northern businesses? If we want people to move north to do this work, where are they going to live? How will we grow our tax base to afford to maintain all this new infrastructure in 15-20 years time?
Frustrating day in #canpoli but at least now I know why #loriidlout didn’t respond to any of my emails about #ProportionalRepresentation

Rest in Peace Frank T’Seleie. The example you set is more valuable now than ever. #NWT #indigenous #sovereignty #Canada

@bonitazarrillo_mp Bonnie, can you tell us anything about Rob’s stance on Electoral Reform? It seems like he’s the only leadership candidate who hasn’t gone on the record to strongly support implementation of PR through a citizen’s assembly. The NWT is a good prospect for the NDP in the next election but progressives here will have a hard time taking seriously anyone campaigning on a “fighting for workers” ticket who isn’t also committed to Proportional Representation. Thoughts?
