Sarah@ericbrignac @Popehat @mmasnick @pluralistic the rule of goats is essentially if someone does or says something, does it really matter if it is with irony or for the lols? Even if you fuck goats as a joke, you’re still a goat fucker. So it’s about public persona and perhaps playing a character vs. the “real” person and if in the end it makes a difference.

Maybe I’m missing some things on here because I’m not here as much as I used to, but it’s amazing how much the Durham report has already disappeared from my view. The MAGAs who were all chortling about it seem to have already moved on. So much for this damning report.

Mark CopelovitchIt's perfectly reasonable to say that the state should not fund public universities at the levels it used to. I disagree and think the slow motion privatization of public higher ed is bad, but so be it. What's not reasonable is to expect that public universities like UW - Madison will be subject to any and all state regulations - of an increasing stringency & intrusion - while the public funding continually declines as a share of total resources. Unfunded mandates are bad.
