Watching series 1 of Spaced with grumpy teen. She hasnโ€™t laughed once yet, but Iโ€™m sitting here cackling like a goon at jokes Iโ€™ve heard a zillion times. Sudden urge to play Tomb Raider III or Resident Evil 2 tho
Can web developers stop fucking with scroll bars please? No website is so beautiful that it justifies losing the ability to see how far the page scrolls down. I don't give two shits about your design vision.

Today's car is, in my opinion, the weirdest one yet. The TriVette was a 3 wheeled vehicle that was manufactured from 1974-1978. Only 27 of them were ever made. There is a fan page with historical photos and it's a real throw-back.

Today's beautiful inspiration: Camila Nogueira is an illustrator artist and muralist from Porto, with a colorful bright neon style. I really love the vibe of those beautiful surreal worlds.

My wife asked me why I've been so outspoken at work recently. I said "Recently? I've always been like this" and she argued that I've definitely got worse. I tried to point out that it's mostly because the sense of entitlement folk now have at work coupled with their sheer mind-numbing idiocy is responsible, not my descent into old age. I don't really know how else to put it. I hate being tagged as 'grumpy' because I get annoyed with the constant barrage of idiocy

This is so cool. For their graduate thesis, writer & crafter, Alanna Okun made a game about knitting and hand knitted an arcade console to put it in.

Honestly I thought I'd see more artists chiming in to get Blender to ban AI:
https://devtalk.blender.org/t/ai-contributions-policy/44202

There's still time if you're an artist or developer and you want to see blender put out a policy that commits to not using LLMs at all, for anything.

Edit: This seems to have gotten 67 boosts but not a single person chimed in :[

Edit 2: Thanks for chiming in everyone!  If they shut down the thread, please just create a new one. I don't want them to worm their way out of this. AI is horrific for the environment. It contributed to the US war industry. It hurts artists and programmers alike. It is a danger to us all and I don't want to see it in art programs, at all. Krita took a stance against it. It's not impossible to be against AI and also create programs for artists.

Also, just so it's clear, if you're an AI bro or a centrists with AI bro friends, I will just block you. I don't have time for your opinions.

AI Contributions Policy

Rationale There are more frequent pull requests that have been mostly generated by AI, where itโ€™s not disclosed and the author may not fully understand what they are contributing. Code review and maintenance has always been a big bottleneck. With AI contributions that the contributor does not fully understand themselves, this puts an even bigger burden on reviewers. Worst case, reviewers are effectively talking to an AI through a game of telephone. There is value in educating new developers to...
