I've finally finished my master's thesis, which is about a feature in #AMD #sev #snp, SecureTSC. Essentially: SecureTSC leads to co-located virtual machines.

Finally! I’ve finished my Master’s degree by finally finishing my Master’s thesis, which I successfully defended on December 12th, 2024. Work done in the thesis systematically analyzes SecureTSC, a feature in AMD’s latest evolution of their confidential computing suite called SEV-SNP. With SecureTSC, SEV-SNP Virtual Machines can securely read the CPU’s Time-Stamp Counter (TSC), a register that keeps track of the cycles since the CPU’s last boot. Previously in traditional hardware-assisted virtual machines, reads to the TSC could be intercepted by the hypervisor.
