A4. I'm going to replace helmets by their expiration dates in the future, after a gentile impact crash 2 years ago turned a VERY old helmet into multiple foam chunks and a broken plastic shell. I count myself lucky I didn't have a big crash wearing it.

A1. I am posting from a BART train currently in Oakland and heading for SF today. I usually wear an orange vest when riding around Berkeley and Oakland. Unless, of course, I am wearing my orange #kidicalmass jacket!

A2. I put together this wood and steel campaign sign holder that fits on a bike pannier rack. The steel came from the yard sign mount that displayed this sign at my house. It's not really pretty engineering, but it works!

A1. I'm posting from Berkeley as usual tonight. The only notable animal encounter I've had on a bike was this coyote sighting from November while leading my MTB students in Marin County. Sorry for the sub-par picture, the coyote didn't get much closer than about 50 yards.

A1. I'm posting from Berkeley as usual, but I missed the live portion of #BikeNite yesterday. I'm only watching the Olympics here and there, but I'll say I don't think I've ever seen any athlete skate as free, relaxed, unbothered, and utterly joyfully as Alysa Liu in her free skate program.

I'm happy she won gold, but I'm even happier for her doing this whole figure skating thing on her own terms.

A2. I'll shout out Headlands Brewing Beer Garden in Berkeley. Great pub food, great local beer, located just off the Ohlone Greenway in Berkeley (which is a lengthy bike/ped pathway separated from car traffic), and you get to park your bikes inside the open air beer garden away from the prying fingers of any would-be bike thieves outside. It's a bit of a ride from my house, but it's worth every pedal stroke!
