Camping near Pismo. Evacuation warnings followed us down from Santa Cruz but the levee here didn’t flood. Barely. @paul wipes the window to see outside and with two small adjustments, we’ve got a turkey vulture!
So I almost was killed out on West Cliff last Thursday when a gigantic wave overtook my parked car, moved it several feet, and went through the moonroof, covering me with sea water and small rocks *inside my car*. The person in the video is ok. Someone shot another video showing that same wave throwing a small boulder through the windshield of the car next to me. My car is totaled from the impact. #bigwaves #santacruzwaves #stormdamage

- Mastodon makes me realize how much the #Twitter algorithm maximized user outrage to boost engagement for profit. Gross. Here, my feed is interesting & supportive.
- There's a culture of kindness - at least so far. It's extremely appealing & should be normalized on & offline.
- Beyond reactions to toots, people share songs, poetry & ask great questions. I can't remember the last time I found social media to be fun.
