I don't know how long it will be before it goes under, so I probably should try to jump ship and be somewhere else (at least temporarily) before my server vanishes and I lose the my account. There's not a *ton* here but it'd be easier than starting from zero...
So, looks like I'm on a hunt to migrate my account to a new server. Anyone have suggestions or tips?
@jmac I assume it's filtering by what the *poster* indicates is their language.

@jmac If you go to Preferences>Other under "public timelines" you get a "filter languages" section: "When checked, only posts in selected languages will be displayed in public timelines"

I don't mind other languages at all, but I was having to scroll past long chains of posts I had no chance of comprehending before I filtered myself to preferred languages.

After seeing THE MENU, I can't not in my head be Ralph Fiennes as I plate the various dishes for my cats in the morning: "Fancy Feast filet mignon-flavor kibble, moistened with warm water creating its own sauce; dry kibble on the side for cronch; wet-plate Meow Mix with REAL tuna and salmon; clear, snow-cooled tap water in a large metal bowl filed to the brim. Please - do not eat. *Savor.*" <LOUD CLAP> (INSERT TITLE CARD: Kitties' Bullshit: From a bag and a can.)

Do cats enjoy steam?

I noticed when I move shower curtains or do anything in the bathtub Iggy will come running for seemingly no reason.

Today she was on the bathroom counter, and since it was cold I shut the door. After my shower she was still sitting on the counter all chilled-out-zen with her eyes closed in the steam. Is she enjoying it? Maybe it makes their fur less dry and itchy?

I totally get the eco-friendly thing, and I appreciate the computer was packed with the rigid gray foam that's not staticky - I don't know if that's more eco friendly or degradable than styrofoam. Three other components were wrapped in plastic. I get that usually product documentation is plastic-bagged, but this one ONE PIECE OF PAPER was packaged using more paper to signal their efforts to cut packaging material. It's like putting up a sign that reads "CAUTION: SIGN."

The other slightly infuriating thing is after unpacking the very simple all-in-one computer and plugging everything in as I've done many times, I found an empty-seeming envelope sealed with a sticker that read "Important product information: As part of our environmentally conscious...this envelope replaces a one-use plastic bag."

Inside was one folded 8x10 sheet of paper with the quick-setup instructions which are usually just laying on top of the box contents so you'll find it.

@victorgijsbers Required for work, of course. I actually think Windows11 looks pretty nice once I could finally use the thing. I finally had to strong-arm my way past the ridiculous sign-in page.

At one point I got this:

I've been a Mac user for a while and only use PC for work-at-home. I had to buy a new PC today because my perfectly-functioning machine was "past 7 years old..."

I have to sign in to a Microsoft account to even set up this machine. I have one, but don't remember the password. Ask for a one-time passcode, get a 6 digit number, but it requires 7 digits. try signing up new with my phone number, get a code, also 7 digits, but it will only accept four.

No, I don't want to use Edge. Please stop.
