I am not paid enough to represent someone else's opinion.

Are you using #Codeberg to host your favorite AI-assisted and otherwise vibecoded project because your desire for dopamine has utterly destroyed your willingness to learn new things? Do you neither care about how you're "flooding the room" of the free software ecosystem nor about the greater societal implications, insisting that "it is what it is"?

Check out #GitHub, the world's most popular AI-first platform! Copilot, annoying maintainers with slop, you'll fit just right in!

I recently learned from @algernon about a very useful behaviour on Github. When you visit a Github repository that a user you've blocked has contributed to, you see a warning. Now if I block github.com/claude, it's easier to see if a repository is worth checking out or not.
The #Forgejo monthly report for November was just published! ✨ https://forgejo.org/2025-11-monthly-report/

A security release was published for Forgejo v13 and v11 LTS.
There is another way to report accessibility issues that lowers the barrier. User research is still seeking your help.
A lot of work has been done regarding federation, and the Dutch government has expressed interest in Forgejo.

I finally migrated reuse-tool to #Codeberg πŸŽ‰ It can be found functional at <https://codeberg.org/fsfe/reuse-tool>.

It feels good to finally move away from non-free #GitHub to a truly free code forge. Not just free as in code, but also free as in non-profit-and-community-organised.

A lot of work went into this migration, but Codeberg made it so much easier with their integrated migration tool.

I'll need to migrate a few more repositories, and then the @fsfe will be rid of this silly little thorn in its side :)

reuse-tool

reuse is a tool for compliance with the REUSE recommendations.

Wohoo, what feels like ages ago, @dpk, @n0toose & I started a motion to clarify which licenses are compatible with #Codeberg's mission. And after our motion for that ToS update had passed at the annual assembly, it is now live!

You can read about that – and many other cool news from @Codeberg – here:

Together with @forgejo, we will have a presence at #FOSDEM 2026! (Thanks @fosdem!)

FOSDEM will take place in Brussels between 2026-01-31 and 2026-02-01β€”it is the largest European conference on free and open-source software and the admission is free (as in beer).

Just like last year's FOSDEM, we will be running a stand, exchanging stickers and having delightful conversations. If you find anyone wearing a badge of either project's logo, feel free to say hi. :D

The #Forgejo monthly report was published ✨

Forgejo is 3 years old and was made possible by over 1,930 people and and many other free projects. Forgejo v13 was released and security vulnerabilities were fixed. Forgejo-contrib incubated new projects.

Great news: Today, we have managed to distribute our Forgejo instance across two servers. A main instance still handles most traffic, but requests from #CodebergPages are now handled by another server. Going forward, we'll try to route more read-only traffic there to distribute the load.

This is an important milestone, because such a setup was never tested with #Forgejo at this scale.

This should improve availability of both Codeberg.org and Codeberg Pages.
