Which is better: Porth, Ferndale, Mountain Ash, Ebbw Vale or Tonypandy? (can also be other places in a similar area) I don't think we can afford Pontypridd neu y Fenni.

I'm out and about a lot this year, reading poems (sometimes out loud).

For some strange reason, tickets to many of the shows seem to be selling quickly. Presumably people are muddling me up with Bill Bryson again.

Match of the Day review – without Lineker, this is just 20 minutes of shameful, joyless TV | Television & radio | The Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2023/mar/12/match-of-the-day-review-without-gary-lineker-this-is-just-20-minutes-of-shameful-joyless-tv
A great read - because apparently #MOTD was even worse than I imagined.
Role on Monday when I go back to work and can blot out this chaos.
Match of the Day review – without Lineker, this is just 20 minutes of shameful, joyless TV

The embarrassingly truncated and hilariously silent ‘scab’ MotD proves that Gary Lineker is the best in the game – and that the BBC has absolutely shot itself in the foot

The Guardian
I was going to listen to the tennis on #bbcsport but decided that I'd rather watch it on #amazonprime all because #imwithgary
So if I have a bad night's sleep due to watch screens I can blame that on #bbc too.
Emily Maitlis, the former Newsnight presenter referenced a monologue delivered by Lineker at the start of the BBC’s coverage of the Qatar World Cup in which he highlighted lack of rights for migrant workers, women and gay people in the country. “Curious that Lineker was free to raise questions about Qatar’s human rights record–with the blessing of the BBC–over the World Cup, but can’t raise questions of human rights in this country if it involves criticism of government policy” #GaryLinekar

In case it gets lost in the noise I think this message is important:

Seeking asylum is not illegal.

This is dynamite from Kaveh Solhekol on Sky Sports News. Absolutely nails it. He has the Tories and BBC on toast. Well done!! 👏 Take 2 mins and watch👇#garylineker #ImWithGary #MOTD #ToryFascists

I find it rather heartening.... that sports people, who do not as a whole focus on politics, stand together when one of them is attacked, is rather wonderful

In the last week the BBC has managed to piss off classical music fans (through cuts to BBC orchestras and axing the BBC Singers), nature and wildlife lovers (through deciding not to broadcast an episode Attenborough's new series for fear of upsetting right wing climate deniers) and football fans (by censoring Lineker).

They're building one hell of a rebel alliance!

And strangely I find myself at the intersection of all three groups...
