Solidarity works comrades

If football pundits can do this we can do it for our disabled, LGBTQ, immigrant and other brothers and sisters who are regularly marginalised and demonised by the main stream media

View from work / The Burger Van today. It's rather windy!!! #uk #Kent Radio news is all #GaryLinekar and #Oscars and over breakfast I'd read another ( translated) #RM Spanish interview, which is currently on my mind...

In light of the #BBC kicking #GaryLinekar off the air for a tweet which dared to criticise a government minster's framing of current asylum policies, perhaps this would be a good time to sign a petition calling for all appointments to roles like head of the BBC to be made by an independent body.

There's a petition to ask #UK #parliament to switch to appointments by an independent board: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/632947

Petition: Create an Independent Board to make all public appointments

We want all public appointments to non-governmental organisations, like the BBC, to be made by a new Independent Board, made up of a cross-section of society. Ministers should have no role in deciding on who is appointed to non-governmental organisations, or making these appointments.

Just gone to my folks and mum is listen to BBC 4. Apparently #GaryLinekar can't call out the governments illegal immigration policy but home secretary Suella Braverman can give her side of the argument and talk about Enoch Powell! #BBC #GovermentMouthpiece
Emily Maitlis, the former Newsnight presenter referenced a monologue delivered by Lineker at the start of the BBC’s coverage of the Qatar World Cup in which he highlighted lack of rights for migrant workers, women and gay people in the country. “Curious that Lineker was free to raise questions about Qatar’s human rights record–with the blessing of the BBC–over the World Cup, but can’t raise questions of human rights in this country if it involves criticism of government policy” #GaryLinekar
