Hey, I am Goemon Ishikawa. I am a blind user of Mastodon and I like tech, anime, chiptunes and chipmusic, and archiving and preserving things.
I am also called the chiptune archiver @social.stealthy.club
My chiptune open directory ishttps://chiparchive.com/files/
Not sure how people will feel about this, but I used #ChatGPT to write a script that will query the U.S. #NationalWeatherService, summarize the 3 most major #weather events across the country, convert to TTS, then upload the audio file via SFTP to a server of your choice. I had it made privately for my AzuraCast station, but figured people may find it useful. Pull requests are welcome, especially if you want to rewrite it to take the Chat GPT code out. :-) https://github.com/dangero2000/weather-watcher/

♻️ New EU rules for durable, energy-efficient and repairable smartphones and tablets start applying

"The new rules will promote sustainable consumption and savings, and reduce the environmental impact, contributing to EU’s energy efficiency targets, cutting greenhouse gas emissions and promoting circular economy. With these rules, smartphones and tablets are expected to save 2.2 TWh of electricity consumed by citizens while using these devices by 2030"

Oh look, Google News, you added the name of the article after the "Full coverage" links as part of the accessibility label, which isn't horrible for links lists, but what I find even more ironic is that you didn't add the section title after each "learn more" link that is above the major sections. (Slight correction: Only 3 of these exist, which could be worse, so it's just sections with personalized content in them.) Truly amazing and consistent work there in removing duplicate labels, I give you 10 out of 10.

Hahahaha so typical. Scammers really need to try harder. [Apple Security Notification]

We’ve intercepted a potentially unauthorized request involving your Apple ID (Case Number Redacted). A charge of $397.58 was attempted using Apple Pay at Apple Store – Orlando, FL. This activity deviates from your typical login and payment behavior. As a precaution, the transaction has been suspended, and access to Apple Pay has been temporarily limited from new devices. (1/2)

If only tech news cared as much about accessibility as they do the iPhone 17 Air's resolution. Lol. I bet the innards of VoiceOver and TalkBack have plenty of secrets, comments about how much working around of broken frameworks devs really have to do, and of course, the stubs for new features.

Zorin OS 17.3 review - Would you pay for your Linux desktop? • Dedoimedo

「 Zorin OS tries to set itself apart by offering a paid version (about EUR50), which comes with additional software, tweaks and support from the developers. Technically speaking, you can also pay for Ubuntu, if you like, or try the pro set of patches, which ought to last you a decade plus. KDE is also gearing up toward having its own commercial distro 」

Zorin OS 17.3 review - Would you pay for your Linux desktop?

Long, thorough review of Zorin OS 17.3 Core, tested in a dual-boot configuration on a laptop with AMD processor and integrated graphics and NMVe storage, covering live session, installation and post-install use, including look and feel, customization, ergonomics, desktop effects, surprisingly decent dark theme, partitioning, language locale annoyances, tour and first-boot setup, problematic software management - sluggish UI, limited preferences, ambiguous search and mixed first- and third-party sources, and unverified packages, system updates, default and extra applications, performance and responsiveness with animations turned on and off, broken battery indicator, various other bugs and cross-Ubuntu-family inconsistencies, paid options considerations, other observations, and more

I know I said this before, but authors, not every writing wisdom applies to your story! recently, I've read several books where the author decides to show, rather than tell, and it honestly just drags the story out and makes it more confusing, when telling instead of showing would have been a far better choice here. Would it have been obviously telling instead of showing? Yes, but your story matters more than writing wisdom!

I'm not sure who came up with these writing tools, but I believe they were crafted to fit a certain type of story.

I haven't researched it yet, but I've read several books where the writer breaks a lot of rules, etc, and the story was the best thing I've ever read, ever!

It's okay if characters just go along with the strange plot. It's okay if you tell, rather than show.
