It seems that Mastodon’s big selling point has also been it’s greatest drawback. The emphasis on federation has amplified the “separate servers” in people’s minds as something that will affect them far more than it actually will (the effect on most users turns out to be “effectively none”).
What the h*ck’s a Hive, and why are people I want to follow going there instead of coming here, where I can follow them? I honestly hadn’t heard of Hive Social until today, and my anxiety is giving me problems about it because I only have enough social energy for one (1) avenue of interaction. I backed Mastodon, and advocated for it, and now I’m doubting myself.
