Let's cut the bullshit and spell out a few things. The IT security industry is about as trustworthy as the food supplement and vitamin industry, but somehow they escaped the same reputation. Their products are overwhelmingly based on flawed ideas, and the quality of their software is exceptionally bad. And while not everyone will agree with the harshness of my words, I'll say this: Essentially everyone in IT security who knows anything in principle knows this.

Of late, I've made a effort to reduce the no. of 3rd-party deps in my company's software. Most of our services can stand on their own now 👍

Today demonstrated that not many others do the same. We discovered that several big UK ISPs APIs rely on MS services and have no fallback 👎

While users could use our services, they couldn't get a full range of quotes from all suppliers. This seemed bad, but it ended up working out well. With everyone else's systems down, we were one of the only options 😎

Why do PHP programmers love cooking?

Because they can always rely on a good array of ingredients.
