https://youtu.be/MiTFgNktU5E?t=2417 wow this is the first indie game eggbug jumpscare i’ve had so far. i’m so excited for the next time that this will happen now (i have no doubt that it will). also kinda motivates me to work harder on my creative projects so i can someday do it to other friends of eggbug too ngl

i would say i have the most experience in what is known in the industry as “Objectively Disoriented Programming”
truly, every game designer’s worst nightmare is having to create a functional piece of computer software

i thought to myself “man i sure hope Monopoly renamed ‘Oriental Avenue’ to something else like a while ago” and i looked it up and my god it took until July of last year for them to do this???? i mean at least it happened at all i guess but good lord. and they didn’t even rename it in the McDonald’s promo that happened afterwards!

anyway what Monopoly *should* be doing is changing the Electric Company to the Internet Company so they can make a serious statement on what is and is not a utility

For the last few months, #Google has been blocking Safe Browsing requests via our (#IronFox) API key. They claim this is due to us hitting their (very limited) usage quotas.

We've filled out their form to request additional quota several times, and have never heard a response back.

Does anyone have any ideas/thoughts/suggestions on how we can get this fixed? Any help/support would be greatly appreciated. It's becoming a major issue that's compromising the safety of our users (by leaving them more exposed to malware/phishing/etc).

there’s something deeply funny about how PokĂ©mon Red/Green/Blue were made for a fully monochrome game console while PokĂ©mon Black/White were in full colour

anyway imagine the universe where the Virtual Boy wasn’t an immediate commercial failure and it got a link cable and PokĂ©mon games. i bet the alternate timeline generation 2 games made for the Virtual Boy would’ve been sick

my hot take on the Virtual Boy library is that Virtual Lab is a better game than Waterworld.

both have bullshit difficulty scaling, but at least i can do satisfying plays in Virtual Lab by clearing big structures and setting up combos. Waterworld is just all BS all the time.

the only points Waterworld gets is for better music. it might be more “graphically advanced”, but it has no charm. and it might have “more responsive controls”, but your craft’s acceleration is so abysmal it doesn’t matter

the wildest thing about Nintendo not using VRR to run the Switch 2’s display at 50 Hz with their Virtual Boy emulator is that even the Switch 1 can do this. 50 Hz is well within the safe range for underclocking its display.

anyway i have RetroArch running on my Switch 1 at 50 Hz now. the Mednafen‐based VB core recently added an eye separation option for use with Nintendo’s VB hardware. i really hate wrestling with RetroArch’s UI, but once you wrangle it into shape it does actually work well.

it’s so funny to me that Wikipedia’s main image depicting the Virtual Boy shows it mounted *backwards* on the stand. as though nobody involved in taking the picture had anywhere near the level of investment necessary to notice this
