Hot take:
As the years go on, I find that the 1984 TV version of #TheChristmasCarol with George C. Scott has replaced the 1951 version Alistair Sim-led version as the superior film. The production design, the pacing, the atmosphere (which the ‘51 version excelled at as well) — and, of course, the acting. In fact, it seriously needs to be considered one of Scott’s top performances. Just my humble opinion.

#Rashomon truly is a very entertaining, compact film. Clocks in at just 95 minutes and has a fascinating story that really moves. I can imagine a lot of people who won’t watch anything in black and white and haven’t seen something older than 1990 could get involved in it. Has a true modern sensibility that could easily have taken place in 1950s Japan rather than the feudal past. #Kurosawa was a masterful, one-of-a-kind artist (as if we didn’t know already!). #ToshiroMifune #classicfilm

But I really think if I could’ve spent any time with Jimmy Stewart, I would’ve been beguiled.

That Barnes and Noble #Criterion sale got me again! Lots of 4K upgrades (Blow Out looks gorgeous) and some real finds (Buck and the Preacher is a particular treasure). Bet my @criterionchannl titles are up to at least 300 now!
