I can’t fucking wait to get Domain* out the door this year so folks (including me) can deploy Kitten** apps.

(Me deploying Kitten apps is trivial. But I won’t be deploying them until everyone can. And we won’t be hosting them until any organisation can. That’s how you decentralise. By building systems that don’t favour you. By decentring yourself first. Even though that’s a metric fuck-tonne harder to do.)

A few weeks ago, I "temporarily" switched to Debian from Fedora on my spare partition. I've yet to switch back. One thing that is very noticeable is that Debian is far less likely to use swap space than Fedora ever was.

It may be that my Fedora was old and crufty, it may be a configuration thing (vm.swappiness is the same on both), or it could be a memory leak, but it is refreshing not to see the swap space used creeping up within hours of a reboot.

And… relax. The five day May holiday starts now. The kids will have three days off school so we get three days without having to listen to disgruntled kids complaining about petty comments made by people who should know better.
