People will think someone else will fix it, yet they don't want to pay taxes to pay for someone to fix it, so society slowly declines. From picking up a piece of litter, reporting a crime or leaky pipe, returning a shopping cart, volunteer for a community group, etc. These little things can make real improvements in your neighbourhood.
Freedom needs to be contained when it causes harm to others. Unfortunately, some people claim false harm in order to take away another person's freedom.

Relying on advertising for funding forces business to focus on populism, for both features and content. Subscription models force business to lock in users. One off purchases force business to build in obsolesence.

Contractors get paid more that labourers because they are taking on the risk of having to put it right when mistakes are made. Then the ones who make fewer mistakes make more profit.
Unfortunately, many contractors disclaim this liability so they can boost profit by cutting quality and leave it to the consumer to fix the mistakes. And regulators do nothing to protect the consumer when this happens.
