Hey guys, you don’t need a mother, sister, or daughter to care about women’s rights. It’s so nice to hear a man say, when asked “why do you support [policy that impacts women and girls]?”

“Because women’s rights are human rights. And I care about and support all women.” Not just because you are related to one.

Support Women (If You Know One)

Just think about what your sister and mom have to deal with. They don't deserve that. Other people might. I don't know them. Whatever. That's their deal. Have you seen Ballers?

@selenalarson I was pretty pro women's rights before I had a daughter and also about the same now that I'm a parent. The only thing that changed is now I wonder how we managed to survive as a species if being a parent is this hard
@selenalarson "I couldn't possibly be sexist! Why, my own mother happens to be a woman!"
@SallyStrange
Well, that’s basically the “I can’t be racist, I’ve got a [insert colour] friend!” excuse.
@selenalarson
@selenalarson I don't remember where I got this from, but it's on point.
@selenalarson See also: trans rights, gay marriage, BLM, etc.

@selenalarson

That, but also…a man has to be just SPECTACULARLY dumb to believe screwing with women’s reproductive rights won’t adversely affect men.

And he has to be even dumber to believe it’ll benefit men as a group, in any way whatsoever.

It’s lose–lose for both sexes.

As the #ProblemPatterns song goes:

"She shouldn’t have to be your sister
She shouldn’t have to be your mother
Your relationship should not define
How much you should respect her"
