From Massachusetts - Atheist - She/Her - I love books, art, music, bujo journals. I’ll probably post too many pictures of my cats.
My profile pic it’s the top part of a Gas Lantern in Beacon Hill. No I didn’t steal it. In my former life I was an Emergency Gas Tech and gas lanterns were my specialty. I don’t miss the work but wish I did steal one of those lanterns.

Heavy snowfall (10-20 in. even in the Greater French Toast Region), wind gusts approaching 60 mph, power outages, coastal flooding (stay off Long Wharf, kids!), references to the dreaded 40/70 Benchmark and even possible bombogenesis! Starting late Sun. or early Mon.

Empty the trunk and head out now, with grim determination, to fill it with extra bread, eggs and milk!

The weather today was absolutely fantastic in eastern Massachusetts with a high of 78°F (26°C)
I know we will be back in the humidity with 92°F (33°C) later this week but I am enjoying it as long as this lasts today. I long for autumn to arrive.
As someone from Massachusetts. I absolutely love Marathon Monday. For all the runners today congratulations. We’re so excited when you come to town. We cheer on every one of you. Some are on the sidewalks of the course others at home cheering from our living rooms, watching all day to see each one of you cross the finish line. You’ve worked so hard to get into the race & even harder to complete it. Cheers to you all! We hope to see you again next year !

My favorite kinds of toots:

- I thought this was interesting.
- I went outside, this is what I saw.
- I’m making something.
- I’m trying something new.
- This is my jam. (Any kind of jam.)
- I made a thing and I’m proud!
- I’m bad at it a thing, but I’m sharing anyway!
- This is my important animal or person.
- Whimsical shitpost.
- Real life mundane thing.

Finally did my taxes today. I really thought that we were going to have to pay this year. Thankfully we are getting a refund. More than we expected so a couple of things we were putting off buying until we had extra money are in reach and we will put the rest in savings. Feeling relieved.
My child goes to an agricultural high school here in Massachusetts & the time has finally arrived that they have asked if we can get chickens. I’m not opposed but I know nothing about raising chickens. Anyone know where is a good place start to teach myself about this? And do you have any pros/cons that you feel strongly about. I’m open to hear any feedback. #farm #chickens #advice

Circle of Stitches, a #yarn and #craft store in #SalemMA had a flood from a pipe burst, and they're looking at at least 2-3 weeks of closure as the flooring and drywall gets repaired. If you're able to buy something from their online store, even a digital pattern, it would go a long way to keeping their staff on payroll while they work to reopen.

Circle of Stitches ® | Ana Campos on Instagram: "It’s with a very heavy heart that I’m sharing that our brick and mortar location is closed until further notice. Yesterday a pipe burst in our building, and flooded our store with an inch of standing water. We’re hoping to be closed for no more than 2-3 weeks. In the meantime, our online shop will stay open. The good news is that a very small percentage of our inventory was damaged, so we’re able to keep the online shop going. The bad news is we don’t know how long it will take us to re-open, as our flooring needs to be pulled up, and damaged drywall needs to be removed. We need your help to stay afloat. We’re receiving zero support from the landlord. We’re working with our insurance company to cover as much of the loss as possible, but we already know they won’t cover everything. One of our uncovered expenses will be payroll: we’ll continue paying our staff while we’re closed. Our dye studio and workshop space will remain open, and workshops will run as scheduled. How you can help: - Our online shop is open. Please think of us for your next project. If you have the budget but no project in mind, maybe you can send a crafty friend a gift? - A low cost way to help out is to buy some of our digital patterns - Sign up for a workshop - Visit Toil & Trouble Studio and pick up some hand dyed yarn - Share our shop with your crafty friends! With your support, I’m sure we can make it through this and get our little shop back up and running. Thank you, as always, for making Circle of Stitches possible. xo, Ana (and Annie, Joyce, Vanessa, Melissa, and Drea)"

Update : I got the job !
After 6 months of job hunting, I have made to the last round in the interview process. This is for a job that I’m really interested in. The job market has been rough so cross your fingers and send good vibes.
Almost 14 years ago I deleted my Facebook account, today I deleted my instagram. I haven’t really used my instagram that much over the past few years so it was easy to just delete it. I never joined threads or had Facebook messenger. I still have Pinterest but that’s on its way out too as it’s pretty much just all ads at this point. I just have to take everything I’ve saved off of there. Anyone have a good alternative to Pinterest that is in the fediverse?
