I wanted to record a South African airport announcement for today's #AudioMo as I'm traveling.

There is a bit of general airport ambiance before the announcement happens.

A few days ago for #AudioMo I posted a recording of a single bird and said I didn't know if I had the recording of the mating pair... But I do!!

I think this is particularly fascinating. The one bird sings an interval of (almost) a fifth, and the other does an approximation of the teeth kissing sound in some cultures used to express disdain, but it sounds so cute, I can't bring myself to make that association with anything other than a smile.

#AudioMo for today comes from 12-year-old me who was, at the time, experiencing her last ever school choir practice, though she didn't know it then.
Though this song isn't great - we're kids and sound like it - it was a lot of fun to perform. I'm not sure what it's called, but as so many international choirs see fit to perform African music, I thought I'd show you it as it sounds slightly more authentically.

Lots of 3 part harmonies, clapping, marching on benches, etc. Yes, there are off notes, and I'm sorry for the pocket rustling, It couldn't be helped.

Today's #AudioMo was always supposed to come from September 2024, but the first time I tried to post a file, it didn't want to upload. The second time, I'd written an entire transcript, and then the audio didn't work. Now you're just getting lion roars. Many, many any of them.

Thanks to @Bermudianbrit for boosting and compressing the audio, and for being my favourite adventure buddy.

My fifth #AudioMo this year is another bird recording. Someday, I will run some of these unknowns through a bird ID, and find out what they are.
This bird just sounds really sweet and cute, and the pairing call it does with its mate is even cuter, though I'm not sure if I have any of those recorded.
Again from October 2023, comes today's #AudioMo contribution.
The crisp, early morning air in an animal sanctuary or nature reserve allows for sound to travel so much further than it otherwise would.
Hyenas have always fascinated me. What I love about this recording is not only the clarity with which they can be heard, but also the differences in their 2 calls.

Today's #AudioMo comes from October 2023. I was having a tough time. Everything felt like it was gradually going to hell in a handbasket. And then this happened.

This recording was taken at 04:30 one morning, when sleep was illusive and sadness waged war inside me. I heard the birds. And they were stunning. And I recorded them to remind myself that - even in the darkest times - there is beauty, and light, and comfort to be found, if you look hard enough.

#AudioMo for yesterday... Got so distracted by moving things, but here's an arrangement i did for my acapella group in 2022. The theme song to Pretty little Liars, just four lines, but I love how this particular version came out.

I've never done #AudioMo before, but I'm hopping on the bandwagon, if a day late, this year.

This was a recording in October 2023, when @talon and I visited a lion and cheetah sanctuary on his trip to South Africa.

My father loves the sound of woodpeckers, and I thought I'd record this and send it to him.

This recording is 45 seconds of delightful, incessant pecking, with Talon saying "That was cool"right near the end. :)

I had a very interesting conversation on here earlier about how dialects impact the way we write words that don't exist, but that we all use.

Is it "be-coz I said so", or "be-cuz I said so?"

Let's find out.

Spoiler: It's neither. or both. Depending on how you see it. hear it? say it? whatever. all of the above!

This was nerdy and I loved it.
