Tim JI keep seeing reminders that "likes don't boost #visibility here"—and getting more and more horrified at how many people on #Twitter apparently kept their display set to Home view and were permanently at the mercy of #TheAlgorithm.
I found Home view unusable and always switched back to chronological the moment it reappeared. It was obvious that Twitter's idea of what I'd want to see was entirely different from mine, and I didn't see why I should let them force it on me!
“Everything is the same as (old church),” she said. “It’s just like it, only there are more families and people we know here.”
She proceeded to list off a number of folks from my childhood who apparently are members of this congregation, who I now have to believe would not welcome a gay or other non-conforming person among them.
No, Mom. It’s not the same. It never will be the same.
Today, my mom told me that she & dad chose anti-LGBTQ. Today, when we woke up to another hating heartbreak in Colorado Springs, they left a church that was pushing to be inclusive to join a congregation that will openly discriminate against #lgbtqia people.
“I hope you’re not upset,” she said.
I thought about those human beings at #ClubQ. Those people are my #church, the people who are marginalized and excluded. The outsiders. I choose that club any and every damn day.
