#IFTTT just announced that they are reducing the number of free apps from four to two. What low impact methods are you using to post from #WordPress to #Tumblr and #Twitter? I'd like something that doesn't involve a plugin.

#WordNerd, #Editing and #Editor friends, can anyone recommend resources I can use to justify avoiding using "one" in informal writing? For example "One should avoid the use of the word 'one' when 'you' would work just as well."

I'm training a very talented non-native English speaker to try to make their language not sound so stuffy.

Really, I'm looking for someone to tell me, "Oh yeah, as long as you mention it in the index preface then you are in the clear. Index on!"

I'm assuming it's bad form to include a separate keyword for the subject mentions. Like:

mindfulness (general)
mindfulness (sati)

If it matters, the primary format for the index will be digital, but it may at some point be printed. Also, I'm only using one level of sub-heads.

How do you deal with combining a word index and a topic index?

I'm indexing a large corpus of ancienttexts where it make a lot of sense to include the source language of keywords in parentheses. However there are, naturally, times when the subject is found in the text without the actual word being used.

Of course I can mention this in the preface to the index. And if I wasn't including the source language word in the keyword I wouldn't think twice about it.

Interesting write up on how one person (who happens to be an active plugin developer) uses #Joplin for note taking:

How I take notes with Joplin

As several disruptive global events happened in the last couple of years, I decided to take digital notes more actively. After one year of taking notes, I st...

I made a thread builder to help with multi-thread post. It was a little tricky because character count is not simply the character count. Links are only counted as 23 characters and domains are not counted in user names.

Any feedback is welcome.

@bookrastinating Looks like you are down. 😪
@axbom The lack of counting the full url length is actually a clever bit of social engineering, removing the need for potentially shady link shorteners.

@axbom

I was inspired by your thread builder to try to make my own.

One bit of trickyness is that links are only counted at a fixed length an the domain of a user name is not counted at all. I *think* I have solve that problem.

I also added a post counter to the end of each post based on the number of posts. You only see it in the copied text. My next step is to make that an optional setting and let the user choose if they want it at the top or bottom of the post.

Is it correct that there is no blanket way I can stop my replies from showing up in my *followers'* home feed?

I ask specifically in relation to posts where I am going to do a bunch of replies right away. Ideally I'd like for followers to only get the first one in their feed.

I don't really care about the federated or local feeds. I'm on a huge instance so I'm sure no one is looking at those anyway.
