Demonstrating this replicability is a crucial first step in tackling more general problems of data comparability in lithic analysis.

The revolution that still isn't:

Multiple causal factors constitute most parsimonious explanation driving variable expression of complex behaviors.

New paper alert! Here, we have worked on what is probably one of the most comprehensive review of the Middle Stone Age in the last 23 years since McBrearty and Brooks 2000, and in homage to their seminal work. We consider what a generation's worth of scientific advances tell us about the origins of 'modern' human behaviour. All open access!

Big new open access book. Bioarchaeology, pathologies, dental morphology and modification, biomechanics, isotopes, and aDNA. Something useful for everyone in here. https://www.repository.cam.ac.uk/handle/1810/344493

Temple people: Bioarchaeology, resilience and culture in prehistoric Malta

Started my PhD in 2009 - officially tenured in 2022 - 9 years after I graduated. It feels like a long road, but it was definitely worth the wait. Now permanent in a 100% research role with amazing funding for a research group for the rest of my career. It feels unreal when I think back at living on 6k a year during my PhD and eating once every 2 days! Back then it definitely felt like I was making some very dodgy life choices.

A few points on the famous Maltese megalithic 'Temples'. Were these produced by the Neolithic farmers of Malta...or by some kind of mysterious unknown civilization (possibly alien inspired 😂)??

Think the main difference between the two platforms is that on Twitter when you make a joke you get one haha and two death threats, whereas on here you get one haha and someone earnestly explaining the 6th century origins of the specific road that particular chicken crossed. Yet to decide which is more distressing.
Today is #TransDayofRemembrance when we honor and remember trans lives taken by violence. How horrifying that a deadly attack upon the LGBTQ+ community in Colorado Springs should occur right before this solemn day.
Hate isn’t born in us. It is taught. It must end.
This starts with our political leaders, who must cease their cynical attacks against our community before another attack occurs.
Call out the hate. Remind them of its consequences. Hold them to account.

Hi, I'm new here and pretty lost. Most of my work is on the isotopic/nutritional ecology of African mammals (past and present). Now starting to have fun with arctic plants and mammals, but always into early #hominins.
