Happy 40th anniversary to Jim Henson’s' Labyrinth' released on June 27 back in 1986, starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly, written by Terry Jones, with George Lucas as an executive producer. Originally considered a box office flop, but also recognised as a masterclass in practical filmmaking, using massive hand-crafted sets, puppets, and complex animatronics.
And honestly what's not to love? It had David Bowie as the Goblin King, magic, a cute baby, an even cuter worm, a grumpy goblin with a soft heart on the inside, a friendly, rock-summoning gigantic beast, a talking Fox Terrier knight who used a non-talking Old English Sheepdog as his steed, friendship, second chances, and found family. Justifiably a cult classic for 4 decades now.
