Why is the UK government at war with people of UK?

The UK has the lowest pension in Europe, the joint highest retirement age, the fastest falling life expectancy, one of the worst and fastest declining Health Service and the most expensive and some of the worst care homes.

Why the hell would you be voting Conservative as a pensioner?

So the government is now refusing to publish economic analysis of its latest trade deal with Israel. Which seems entirely legit and not remotely like a cover-up operation to stop people from seeing what a totally shambolic hash they are making of every single negotiation, exposing time and again the epic, country-diminishing folly of flouncing out of the single market and pretending that’s a ‘win’.

Reading that, since 2016, Brexit has cost us more than 47 years of membership contributions…

Then add to that the ongoing costs, as well as all that we have lost and broken that you can’t price up; our rights, shared expertise, cooperation, democracy, trust, reputation…

And the resources and effort that our government invests in *not* facing up to this colossal failure is relentlessly insane.

The sunk cost fallacy literally sinking us. Beyond depressing.

Totally agree

This is your daily reminder that you have millions of friends and allies in the EU.

Also the UK government is in its death throes. We all know it'll do its very best to destroy as much as possible on its way out; and to g(r)ift off as much as possible to its backers. Spend no time being surprised, spend it fighting the outrage instead. Also also, stay human and, if possible, alive through the calamities.

Having listened to Steve Barclay slithering and lying his way through his #r4today interview, it’s completely staggering that there is *anyone* left in the country who would still rather blame their fellow citizens (or the trade unions who represent them) for the absolute state of this country and not the govt that has failed us on every single metric that it’s possible to measure. 12yrs of Tory rule and the country is broken. Let’s hold them fully responsible rather than those they’ve failed.

It's cold tonight so we stuck the heating on and I said to my wife that we were lucky we can just about afford to comfortably heat our home. Then I thought, lucky?
Why should we in a developed country feel lucky to be able to keep warm and feed our kids?
The very bottom tier of Maslow's hierarchy of needs is food and shelter, the very basic things you need to live but we as a country struggle to provide for our most vulnerable.
