It's cold tonight so we stuck the heating on and I said to my wife that we were lucky we can just about afford to comfortably heat our home. Then I thought, lucky?
Why should we in a developed country feel lucky to be able to keep warm and feed our kids?
The very bottom tier of Maslow's hierarchy of needs is food and shelter, the very basic things you need to live but we as a country struggle to provide for our most vulnerable.
The Union doesn't work for anyone. #indy #indyref2 #yes #scotland
@craigmair I know exactly what you mean, I’m disabled & cold makes it worse, my husband phones every morning to make sure I’ve got the heating on. Our house is well insulated & we got a new boiler in during the summer but we’re still going to be left skint. I get so angry that so many people won’t be able to put their heating on, that there are now warm banks as well as food banks 🤬
@craigmair it’s -7.6 degrees here in Dumfries and Galloway tonight…the most I dare to heat the inside is 13 degrees. How did it happen that people in the UK cannot afford to heat their homes…or more pertinently why do people keep voting for the criminal Tories who made this happen?
@TheMorrigan generally people vote for what suits them so a Tory promising low tax and high wages sounds tempting. Then we get here.
Try to keep as cosy as you can, we all need to get through this.
