Well done to Dr Sherry on brilliantly passing her PhD viva!!! 🎉
The protease ADAMTS5 controls ovarian cancer cell invasion, downstream of Rab25. https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2024.07.08.602517v1?med=mas
New preprint from our lab!! By Shengnan (Sherry) Yuan and Rachele Bacchetti. We found that the small GTPase Rab25 drives the expression of the protease ADAMTS5, which promotes ovarian cancer cell invasion.

Breast tumors devour ECM to obtain tyrosine. @DrMonaNazemi @ERainero_lab &co show that invasive #BreastCancer cells use #macropinocytosis-dependent uptake and lysosomal degradation of collagen-rich #ECM to promote their growth #PLOSBiology https://plos.io/3OaTjdl
The extracellular matrix supports breast cancer cell growth under amino acid starvation by promoting tyrosine catabolism

Breast tumors are embedded in a collagen-rich extracellular matrix (ECM) network, where nutrients are scarce due to limited blood flow and elevated tumor growth. This study shows that invasive breast cancer cells use macropinocytosis-dependent uptake and lysosomal degradation of ECM to promote their growth.
