Fully documented source code for Elite

The original 1980s source code for the classic space game Elite is available with every single line documented and (for the most part) annotated thanks to the hard works of Mark Moxon.

@[email protected] speaking as a person who went to pizza Hut a number of times as a kid in the 90s, it was actually quite a fun experience, since the pizza Hut stores I went to didn't change their design from the 70s and 80s. It wasn't until the early 2000s when they changed to the modern design we have today.

One of the pizza Hut stores had a jukebox that played 45s.

God we're making Windows 3.1 look secure, aren't we, Microsoft?

Obviously don't use Windows with security like this...

Obviously use a #GNU/Linux (and make sure the Linux distro states it is #GNU/Linux and is licensed under #GPL 3 or newer.Android is not #GNU/Linux, when though it uses the Linux kernel) system when the proprietary competition publishes an operating system with "#security" like this

New Microsoft Defender “RedSun” zero-day PoC grants SYSTEM privileges

A researcher known as "Chaotic Eclipse" has published a proof-of-concept exploit for a second Microsoft Defender zero-day, dubbed "RedSun," in the past two weeks, protesting how the company works with cybersecurity researchers.

@janbeta this is one thing I like about open source hardware and freely available schematics (licensed under creative Commons is a major plus here). You can build, study, and modify, but most importantly, you can repair!

Dear god, it must suck trying to start a youtube channel now. I notice that I'm often really hesitant to try and click on a video from a channel that I don't know well, because I always have this dread that it's AI.

A huge part of this is the policies placed by youtube. AI channels can upload multiple times per day, almost drowning the feed.
There's not much AI in my feed (currently) because it's trained fairly well. Aren't you, youtube feed? :: shakes fist angrily towards an imaginary personification of my youtube feed ::

Never mind the fact that someone spends hours upon hours making a cool video, and it can get just buried beneath the crapton of slop that keeps coming.
It just seeps in, like toxic waste, killing anything beautiful that it comes in contact with.

I hope that more creators could move to peertube, but youtube is such a massive behemoth. It has an insane amount of power, to the point that for huge parts of the world, if it's not on youtube, they will not watch it. I can understand it very well why most stay on the platform, despite the endless amount of censorship and other bullshit google throws their way.

@Zackary and some of the best song writing comes from self reflection, even if the song isn't popular.

@scriptkiddie yep your right. My bad 😬
@markmoxon I think this was the first game I played on the commodore 64 - I didn't get into the c64 scene until 2013. Loaded from tape then saw a 3d virtual world on a 1mhz computer with 64kb RAM and was absolutely blown to pieces by it.
