Dear god, it must suck trying to start a youtube channel now. I notice that I'm often really hesitant to try and click on a video from a channel that I don't know well, because I always have this dread that it's AI.
A huge part of this is the policies placed by youtube. AI channels can upload multiple times per day, almost drowning the feed.
There's not much AI in my feed (currently) because it's trained fairly well. Aren't you, youtube feed? :: shakes fist angrily towards an imaginary personification of my youtube feed ::
Never mind the fact that someone spends hours upon hours making a cool video, and it can get just buried beneath the crapton of slop that keeps coming.
It just seeps in, like toxic waste, killing anything beautiful that it comes in contact with.
I hope that more creators could move to peertube, but youtube is such a massive behemoth. It has an insane amount of power, to the point that for huge parts of the world, if it's not on youtube, they will not watch it. I can understand it very well why most stay on the platform, despite the endless amount of censorship and other bullshit google throws their way.
