I took a #microCT scan of an oak gall I found while waiting for the bus today. It had 4 emergence holes so I assumed all of the gall wasps had already emerged, but there are still several inside! If you look closely you can see them moving in the radiographs. 68 min scan.

CT scanned a cocklebur seed for fun recently. I couldn't figure out why the center of the reconstructed scan was full of so many artifacts, until I looked at the raw radiographs... 😅Any followers know what type of larvae live inside cocklebur seeds?
