I thought it was maybe because they’re not sure if they’re staying and felt it wasn’t worth it but a basic bio only takes a minute.

Can people please please put some useful information in their bios? Realise that, due to the federation, their posting history might not be available for a prospective follower to look at.

Mastodon v4 goes online on Monday.
Many server/instance admins will be updating.
I've ran through the process with the latest RC yesterday on my testbed and it all went well, but, like any update these things are prone to hiccups.
Keep that in mind if your server seems to go offline briefly, the admins will be trying their best
James FeltonProbably not going to talk about this on Twitter (good lord that site is toxic) but it really does suck that the world’s richest man had a whim and now suddenly people who rely on it for income just… can’t anymore.
Books don’t actually pay that well, but I was able to cut down to 4 days at my day job, 1 day to write books (something I’m proud of!) but looking at followers drop off, I think that’s now just gone.

Łukasz LangaI see an ongoing culture clash between the Old Mastodon and the Newbies fleeing Twitter. The Old believe in heavy self-moderation by way of using Content Warnings for a lot of things, using "unlisted" posts to keep the timeline clean, silencing other servers to avoid even a chance of witnessing interactions of users of that server with users of yet another one that we disapprove of. Heavy self-moderation.

It’s never happened to Byline Times before. Reader suppression, if you will - on an article about voter suppression, ironically.
They even put up a warning when you try to retweet eg the viral post of this article by the Electoral Reform Society (verified for the RIGHT reason, not paid) that Byline Times may be a harmful website!
