@JamesGleick I doubt they think of themselves that way. I believe they think of themselves as smarter and better than those who disagree with them. Now I am certainly willing to grant that they may be smarter than I am. But I believe I’m smart enough to sort out good and bad, cruel and kind, tolerant and intolerant.

Is the writer endorsing the notion that an immigrant mother who produced short, plain offspring would be a problem? Height and beauty are advantages not virtues.
