Trying to work on being happier more easily, to have a heart too soon made glad. Accessible contentment may be the route to a better life. So many Americans seem to find such joy at easy, simple things, like killing a homeless person or something good on tv.

Real-world events the NYT might otherwise frame as "Gay People in Florida Face Increasing Harassment" or "Florida Abortion Ban Leaves Women Desperate" are now exclusively presented as "DeSantis Seeks to Rally Evangelical Voters" or "DeSantis Leans Into his Anti-Woke Brand." Once you notice it it's everywhere, and it's completely toxic.
