So, you know that thing where people perform a feat for charity and that inspires others to donate for charity? Well, tomorrow I'll be doing that: I'm participating in the Nacht van de Vluchteling (Night of the Refugee), and I'll walk 42km during the night to inspire you to donate here: https://www.nachtvandevluchteling.nl/fundraisers/daan-wilmer
Proceeds go the Netherlands Refugee Foundation, and you can find out more on the website. Thanks for sharing and considering!
Ik loop mee met de #NvdV24!

Ik ga de uitdaging aan en loop op 15-16 juni mee met de Nacht van de Vluchteling omdat iedereen een veilige plek verdient

I'm not addicted to fedi, I just keep forgetting that my new account's instance is down and opening the app every five minutes.
(small instance and the admin is asleep - or at least, given the time at her location, I hope it is asleep)

Point is, it honestly doesn't matter what issue it's being applied to, the whole 'Those under 25 have underdeveloped brains' argument doesn't hold up any way you slice it.

It's often just an easy way of dismissing the valid perspective of younger people. Which isn't good.

/end

Can you give me some dates on when notable instances gone down, like snowdin for example?

Imposter syndrome isn't real. Imposter phenomenon is very real.

Imposter phenomenon is the combination of two things:
1) the belief that I know less things than others around me.

2) the belief that if this is found out, that I will experience harm from it.

In short, it's about psychological safety. It's a rational response based on the lived experience of the person feeling it, and their observation of how others are treated, it's not a shortcoming of the person experiencing it.

I am deep in the rabbit hole of looking into an apparently deeply scammy looking zsh plugin manager called "zi".

I think it's an extremely bad idea to use "z-shell/zi" or anything else from the same "creators". There's an entire field of red flags here.

That page is a redirect to the init script on Github. At the moment. It sure could change.

But if you're concerned about that, they have "verified" installation instructions, and I...I can't even.

Just put a hardcoded checksum in your zshrc and if the script you download doesn't match it, refuse to do anything.

Why wouldn't you just download the current version? Why constantly re-download it on every shell invocation just to check that it's unchanged?

...I can't even

Each state and the federal gov should have their own activitypub instance.

Biden joining threads is not potus joining mastodon. It's potus supporting a corporate spike jamming open the door for embrace extend extinguish.

It's going to be next to impossible for a mastodon community of any size to not expose their users to the flood of shit from threads just to support this one press release bot.

It should be @[email protected] threads should be federating with that, not Biden forcing us to threads🤦
