So, let's get this straight. The most important thing for the internet is that users can use fancy expensive apps from companies that monetize the hell out of their private data. User's really want this! And it is important that users be required to convey private data and consume targeted promotional content if they want to use the internet, so that these companies can continue to rake in huge profits off exploiting them. That's why this is needed. It's for everyone's best interest.

You guys hip to Google's new beautifully named Web Environment Integrity (https://github.com/RupertBenWiser/Web-Environment-Integrity) thing?

Seems they want to force everyone to provide identity data to use the internet. And their justification:

"Users like visiting websites that are expensive to create and maintain, but they often want or need to do it without paying directly. These websites fund themselves with ads, but the advertisers can only afford to pay for humans to see the ads, rather than robots."

When I read things like this: https://www.securitymagazine.com/articles/99126-68-of-organizations-face-cyber-risks-due-to-skills-shortage then hear about talented and experienced people unable to even get interviews, I have to call BS. Perhaps the deficit of employees are those that look and think like they want them to? Or that will work for the limited wages they are willing to pay?

The magazines portray cyber/Infosec as having negative unemployment, but I just don’t think that’s the reality.

68% of organizations face cyber risks due to skills shortage

Organizations continue to fight an uphill battle against cyberthreats including breaches, lack of skilled professionals and filling key positions.

8 years ago to this day, the first commercially available Ubuntu Touch phone was put on sale for the masses: a BQ E4.5 "Ubuntu edition" - I was one of the first users, waiting patiently for the "order now" button to show up. :) I still use it today!
Since Canonical's major initial efforts, many other phones were added to the list of supported devices and the OS has been continually improved, thanks to the good folks at UBports, Foundation and Community: https://ubports.com/

I know precious little about the leaker but I have one clue: they use Gorilla Tape. Seriously, some of these documents are sitting on said tape. Only barely in frame but the colors and logo are unmistakable. I would screengrab to show you but these docs are marked top secret and I am not fucking with that.

Leaked secret Pentagon documents lift the lid on U.S. spying on Russia’s war in Ukraine

Dozens of leaked Pentagon documents posted online have exposed details of U.S. eavesdropping on Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine. The damage remains unclear.

You folks were super enthusiastic about my posting more on Mastodon, so let's try this.

RT/boost and let's see if there's interest in a regular #Ukraine thread!

Kyiv remains in Ukrainian hands.

For the last year, I've been tracking a notorious Russian unit known for its role in killing 100s of civilians.

This past month we published how we found them.

This week might have been the first week this year I was fully there, the winter vitamin D deficiency hit me like a brick wall this year.

Not just me either, first truly nice week we've had and people just seem pleasantly weirder.
