@stux That's priceless! Reminds me of one of my favorite t-shirts, worn by an old friend who, even though my senior by 45 years, regularly kicked my butt in racquetball:
"Old Age and Treachery beat Youth and Skill every time"
TIL the word "propaganda" comes from the name of a group formed in 1622 by Pope Gregory XV, the Congregatio de Propaganda Fide (congregation for propagation of the faith), responsible for fostering the spread of Catholicism.
Its meaning changed over time, of course...
@dancinyogi Wow. Sorry to hear what she's going through. A good friend went through a similar breakup several years ago. Her ex-husband was a serious control freak (aka jerk), so she knew little about things most of us consider mundane: banking, taxes, utilities, insurance, basic bookkeeping, auto registrations, etc. It's really good you're helping her. I wish y'all the best luck with it—and thanks for helping a fellow traveler on the journey of life!
Cheers!
@evacide Right! And whatever happened to that guy who (dubiously) claimed to have invented email?
And it's not limited to Tech: look up Pedro Paulet, who claimed he invented the liquid-fueled rocket before Robert Goddard.
@nixCraft Take a moment to think about how much that box of SIMMs (DIMMs?) cost when they were new... 😳
"In technology, there is no such thing as The Good Ol' Days." 😂
@MaryAliciaZiff I think you're painting with a pretty broad brush there. It's been my experience that speaking in absolutes (all of them; none of them, etc.) is a surefire way to be incorrect. Some males actually care about those they love; they support them and do everything possible to help them succeed (even if that means shutting the hell up).
I'm sorry you haven't met any of us.
