The Wolf and the Lamb.

An interesting fable about how tyranny will make up any justifications to do what they want. I think that’s important to remember nowadays…

The wolf in this piece was one I’d made for another piece, and thanks to the magic of digital art, I was able to import it into this canvas, tweak it around, and come up with something I was very happy with it. My art idol, Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh, and her peers in the Glasgow Four often used recurring motifs in their work and strongly similar figures from one piece to another.

This piece is inspired by the fable, The Tortoise and the Hare, by Aesop.

I did it entirely in Procreate without the help of any generative AI “assistance”. It’s kind of my take on a mashup of Art Nouveau, Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh, digital art, and storytelling.

I’m really happy with how this piece turned out. I especially love the rich browns and oranges of the canvas textures, as well as the teals and greens. I think this color palette is one that I’m comfortable with, and I seem to fall into using it quite a bit.
