FWIW, I thought, if I start a post with an address <@ person>, it wouldn't appear in the instance timeline. Seems like a reasonable thing. Also, I'd've sworn I read it worked like that.

@fogelnet please point me to an instruction list. Please? When I first joined a couple days ago I saw a couple. Now I cannot find any. I've… "created an alias" on the instance where I'm moving. That is all. I'm stuck now. Thank you in advance!

@donnodubus Interesting. I was thinking of migrating / merging to my sunny garden instance and expected that posts and activity wouldn't transfer. Thus—
A) never merge, have two accounts, try not to get confused
B) merge immediately so I do not have an "overlap" / not overlapping problem

I wanted to #migrate to another #instance, after realizing how persistent the overcrowding problem is here at mastodon.social.

But I realized I can't migrate my "toots," when their whole point was to serve as a reference.

I don't want to repost all of them on another instance that I am not fully satisfied with anyway (and might want to similarly migrate off of eventually).

Seems like my best option is to just ride it out... The #Twittermigration is bound to end eventually, right?
