3/3 Social media has amplified all this polarization. I’m not sure if it will ever get solved until we lose our addiction to it (he says as he shouts from his social media soapbox 😀).
2/3 Now, you are with pro-Musk or anti-Musk. If you’re pro, he invented everything that is good and holy and the more things he does the better the world gets. If you’re anti, he is the devil, who steals all his ideas, makes cars designed to kill you and wants to make Twitter a racist cesspool.
1/3 This whole “MuskPhone” conversation has made me realize something. Human beings are tribal, every one of us. The the past few years it’s been, you are liberal or conservative. If you on the right, everyone on the left if a socialist pedophile. If you’re on the left, everyone on the right is a racist fascist.
So what Mastodon client is everyone using? I use an iPad in landscape mode and the official Mastodon app simply unusable for me. I’ve just started using Metatext and it’s better, except for the whole “toot” fiasco 😀. Are there any others worth trying?
Ok, I will answer my own question. I hit edit in my profile and then exited and my counts updated. I saw this once before when my background pic didn’t update until I did the edit cycle.
I keep getting new followers but I’m Follower count never changes. Is this a bug in the server or just my viewer? I use the Mastodon app on iOS.
I don’t get “favorite” (the Star) and reblog (the loopy arrows). Both inject the post in my feed, which I don’t find useful. Why does favorite repost rather than just work like Like on other platforms. I’m not doing the “I don’t like this, it’s not like Twitter” thing. It’s just seems noisier than it needs to be.
@tinybird I just don't say toot, I use post instead.
Here’s my Mastodon question of the day. If anyone can create a Mastodon server, what if everyone created one where they’re the only user. You’d still be able to follow people on other servers and your data would be safe.
What is the downside of the “one client per server model” other than the fact that you need to be able to run a server with internet access, which is a solvable problem?
#Mastodon
I figured out how to add a background image. Go to the web app and edit profile. There’s a button there. Didn’t immediately show up in the Mastodon app on my iPad. I had to edit profile there, then cancel and it was there!
