@M0KHR indeed, I get it's each to their own, but for the life of me I don't understand contesting, it just seems like no fun to me and an awful lot of hard, tiring work for so very little reward and barely in the spirit of amateur radio.
@MikeFromLFE@IU1KGS a misconception perhaps? I'm not sure that's ever been "current" usage, QRM was always RF interference from any man made source in every text or training I've had. RSGB and other trainers are far from infallible so maybe it was theirs?
I scrounged a radio to experiment with, I was after a wreck that could be made to work but what turned up was a good, working and complete example that took very little effort to clean up into a too nice to screw up radio. Damnit.
