Yes, things are terrible. But this gorgeous coupe glass shows my espresso martini nicely.

I know, espresso martinis aren't hip any more, and your bartender will judge you. But I know how to make my own, and it lets me combine my love of booze and my love of coffee.

Minnesota's state bird is the loon and loons kick butt. Years ago a bald eagle was found dead floating near a dead loon chic. After biologists examined the eagle to determine how it died, they found that a loon had pierced it through its heart. Loons look out for their loved ones. That dead eagle was found in Maine, but that serves as a warning to any bald eagles trying to take loved ones in Maine. Maine and Minnesota loons stand together to defend their loved ones.

As an older tech person, it's legit heartwarming watching the TikTok generation discover why we all hate Oracle.

The world is still forked, so we still need to seek out cool stuff. A blue flower and a black eyed susan with a lovely green worm.

@GeePawHill It is not his use of the word Fuck that stood out to me. It was the continued demonstration of his inability to understand the basics of facilitating a negotiation. There was very little that should have been said right there, and calling out parties not present seems like about the worst thing he could do to facilitate any kind of lasting settlement.
We are ruled by idiots and megalomaniacs, but that's no reason to give up. It's a perennial condition. So it is important to look for the great things in life. This morning it was flowers with intricate petals, and cool bugs. A cool bug in a rambling rose is a sure win for the day.
From now on when I read or watch news pieces and pundit discussions about “the economy” I’ll think of this…

@grmpyprogrammer yeah, if I'm going to back in I absolutely don't care which direction I approach from.

Alternate theory: One of your neighbors living down the culdesac is hot, and the OCD neighbor is hoping to catch a glimpse?

@grmpyprogrammer I didn't know we were neighbors!

I actually do one or the other of those actions, never both. Results of my daily driver being a cargo van, and it's a lot easier to back into a driveway than to pull in nose first. But usually I park in the street, and it's easier to turn around at the end of the cul de sac.

@searls There is a distillery and brewery in walking distance from my house. No matter how bad it gets, I should be able to stay lit.
